SPICES (Spectro-Polarimetric Imaging and Characterization of Exoplanetary Systems) is a five-year M-class mission proposed to ESA Cosmic Vision. Its purpose is to image and characterize long-period extrasolar planets and circumstellar disks in the visible (450?C900 nm) at a spectral resolution of about 40 using both spectroscopy and polarimetry. By 2020/2022, present and near-term instruments will have found several tens of planets that SPICES will be able to observe and study in detail. Equipped with a 1.5 m telescope, SPICES can preferentially access exoplanets located at several AUs (0.5?C10?AU) from nearby stars (<25 pc) with masses ranging from a few Jupiter masses to Super Earths (??2 Earth radii, ??10 M??) as well as circumstellar disks as faint as a few times the zodiacal light in the Solar System. 相似文献

The Ohori deposit, one of the base metal deposits in the Green-Tuff region, NE Japan, is composed of two types of mineralization; a skarn-type (Kaninomata orebody) made by the replacement of the Miocene calcareous layer, and a vein-type (Nakanomata orebody). While the ore mineral assemblage of the deposit (chalcopyrite, pyrite, sphalerite and galena) has been known for being rather simple, some Pb-Bi-S minerals have been discovered for the first time in the present study. The minerals mainly occur in the chalcopyrite-rich ores of both orebodies. They essentially belong to the Pb-Bi-S system and contain Cu and Ag in minor amounts, which correspond to the lillianite–gustavite solid solution series (phases Z and X), cosalite, neyite, felbertalite, krupkaite and Bi-bearing galena. The chalcopyrite-rich (Bi-bearing) ores from both orebodies are richer in chalcopyrite, pyrite and chlorite, and have higher homogenization temperatures (>300°C) of fluid inclusions, and higher FeS contents in sphalerite compared to the Bi-free ores. In the Green-Tuff region, Bi-minerals have been reported from many base metal deposits. Most of these Bi-bearing ore deposits are referred to as xenothermal-type deposits, and are characterized by the following common features; composite mineralization of high- and low-temperatures in the shallower environments, and close relationships with the Tertiary granitic rocks. The whole mineralization at the Ohori deposit also has a similar xenothermal character because of the coexistence of high-temperature chalcopyrite-rich ores with Pb-Bi-S minerals, which were formed by the influence of the Tertiary granitic rocks at a shallow depth. 相似文献

The area of coastal rivers with a combination of fluvial, tidal and wave processes is defined as the fluvial to marine transition zone and can extend up to several hundreds of kilometres upstream of the river mouth. The aim of this study is to improve the understanding of sediment distribution and depositional processes along the fluvial to marine transition zone using a comprehensive dataset of channel bed sediment samples collected from the Mekong River delta. Six sediment types were identified and were interpreted to reflect the combined action of fluvial and marine processes. Based on sediment‐type associations, the Mekong fluvial to marine transition zone could be subdivided into an upstream tract and a downstream tract; the boundary between these two tracts is identified 80 to 100 km upstream of the river mouth. The upstream tract is characterized by gravelly sand and sand and occasional heterolithic rhythmites, suggesting bed‐load supply and deposition mainly controlled by fluvial processes with subordinate tidal influence. The downstream tract is characterized by heterolithic rhythmites with subordinate sand and mud, suggesting suspended‐load supply and deposition mainly controlled by tidal processes with subordinate fluvial influence. Sediment distributions during wet and dry seasons suggest significant seasonal changes in sediment dynamic and depositional processes along the fluvial to marine transition zone. The upstream tract shows strong fluvial depositional processes with subordinate tidal influence during the wet season and no deposition with weak fluvial and tidal processes during the dry season. The downstream tract shows strong coexisting fluvial and tidal depositional processes during the wet season and strong tidal depositional processes with negligible fluvial influence during the dry season. Turbidity maxima are present along the downstream tract of the fluvial to marine transition zone during both wet and dry seasons and are driven by a combination of fluvial, tidal and wave processes. 相似文献

Ultramafic cumulates, mainly crustal true wehrlites, were discovered and described in the mantle–crust transition zone (MTZ)
and the extremely lower layered gabbro sequence of the Ras Salatit ophiolite, Central Eastern Desert, Egypt. They form either
boudinaged lensoidal tabular bodies or interdigitated layers often concordant with the planolinear fabrics of the Ras Salatit
ophiolite rocks. The contact between wehrlites and the host MTZ dunite or layered gabbro is razor sharp, lobate and/or sinuous,
without chilled margins or any visible deformations. The Ras Salatit wehrlites are orthopyroxene-free and composed mainly
of olivine and clinopyroxene. They are texturally equilibrated and show a characteristic poikilitic texture. Crystallization
order of the Ras Salatit wehrlites is olivine/spinel followed by clinopyroxene with the absence of plagioclase. Olivine and
clinopyroxene of the Ras Salatit wehrlites are compositionally uniform and conspicuously high in Mg#, mostly around 0.93 and
0.92, respectively. Moreover, the clinopyroxene shows low Ti and Al contents coupled with marked depletion in LILE. The calculated
melt in equilibrium with clinopyroxene from the Ras Salatit wehrlites is largely similar to lavas from the Izu-Bonin forearc.
Given the above characteristics, the Ras Salatit wehrlites were produced by crystal accumulation from a hydrous depleted basaltic/tholeiitic
melt corresponding to temperatures between 1,000 and 1,100°C at the oceanic crustal pressure (~2 kbar). The involved hydrous
tholeiitic melt has been probably formed by fluid-assisted partial melting of a refractory mantle source (similar to the underlying

This paper explores the result of a questionnaire survey on the location decision of new manufacturing plants from 1997 to 2004 and discovers an industrial cluster in Japan. More specifically, performing an exploratory factor analysis across 22 manufacturing industries, this study firstly summarizes agglomeration advantages as a latent location factor, secondly specifies the regional share of industries that emphasize the agglomeration factor, and thirdly identifies the location of industrial cluster based on the regional share. The major finding is that there exists such agglomeration factor, by which most Marshallian location advantages are represented, and the main industrial cluster consists of high-tech industries and spread over the suburb area between Tokyo and Aichi prefectures, where are most manufacturing capacity is concentrated. 相似文献

IODP Expedition 350 was the first to be drilled in the rear part of the Izu-Bonin, although several sites had been drilled in the arc axis to fore-arc region; the scientific objective was to understand the evolution of the Izu rear arc, by drilling a deep-water volcaniclastic section with a long temporal record (Site U1437). The Izu rear arc is dominated by a series of basaltic to dacitic seamount chains up to ~100-km long roughly perpendicular to the arc front. Dredge samples from these are geochemically distinct from arc front rocks, and drilling was undertaken to understand this arc asymmetry. Site U1437 lies in an ~20-km-wide basin between two rear arc seamount chains, ~90-km west of the arc front, and was drilled to 1804 m below the sea floor (mbsf) with excellent recovery. We expected to drill a volcaniclastic apron, but the section is much more mud-rich than expected (~60%), and the remaining fraction of the section is much finer-grained than predicted from its position within the Izu arc, composed half of ashes/tuffs, and half of lapilli tuffs of fine grain size (clasts <3 cm). Volcanic blocks (>6.4 cm) are only sparsely scattered through the lowermost 25% of the section, and only one igneous unit was encountered, a rhyolite peperite intrusion at ~1390 mbsf. The lowest biostratigaphic datum is at 867 mbsf (~6.5 Ma), the lowest palaeomagnetic datum is at ~1300 mbsf (~9 Ma), and the rhyolite peperite at ~1390 mbsf has yielded a U–Pb zircon concordia intercept age of (13.6 + 1.6/?1.7) Ma. Both arc front and rear arc sources contributed to the fine-grained (distal) tephras of the upper 1320 m, but the coarse-grained (proximal) volcaniclastics in the lowest 25% of the section are geochemically similar to the arc front, suggesting arc asymmetry is not recorded in rocks older than ~13 Ma. 相似文献

We propose a new approach to derive spatially-averaged momentum equations for an urban canopy model that resolves buildings
vertically and not horizontally. First, in order to mathematically describe the actual momentum field as a completely continuous
field, the underling concepts of the immersed boundary method are employed, where we assume that (i) the entire simulation
space, including that occupied by buildings, is filled with a fluid, and (ii) an external body force field exists that reduces
the wind speed to zero at all positions coinciding with the space occupied by the buildings. Then, in order to obtain the
required spatially-averaged momentum equations in a self-consistent manner, a spatial-averaging operation is applied to the
Navier–Stokes equations that include a term representing the external force field. The applied spatial-averaging operation
is equivalent to the conventional spatial filtering operation used in large-eddy simulations. To examine the significance
of the subgrid-scale (SGS) stresses of the spatially-averaged momentum equations, a numerical simulation is performed for
a flow around a regular array of cubical blocks with a grid resolution that is sufficient to resolve the blocks. By estimating
the individual terms in the spatially-averaged momentum equations using the simulation results, we show that the SGS stresses
contribute significantly to the spatially-averaged momentum budget, and therefore they should not be neglected in urban canopy

Modern deltas are understood to have initiated around 7.5–9 ka in response to the deceleration of sea-level rise. This episode of delta initiation is closely related to the last deglacial meltwater events and eustatic sea-level rises. The initial stage of the Mekong River delta, one of the world's largest deltas, is well recorded in Cambodian lowland sediments. This paper integrates analyses of sedimentary facies, diatom assemblages, and radiocarbon dates for three drill cores from the lowland to demonstrate Holocene sedimentary evolution in relation to sea-level changes. The cores are characterized by a tripartite succession: (1) aggrading flood plain to natural levee and tidal–fluvial channel during the postglacial sea-level rise (10–8.4 ka); (2) aggrading to prograding tidal flats and mangrove forests around and after the maximum flooding of the sea (8.4–6.3 ka); and (3) a prograding fluvial system on the delta plain (6.3 ka to the present). The maximum flooding of the sea occurred at 8.0 ± 0.1 ka, 2000 years before the mid-Holocene sea-level highstand, and tidal flats penetrated up to 20–50 km southeast of Phnom Penh after a period of abrupt ~5 m sea-level rise at 8.5–8.4 ka. The delta progradation then initiated as a result of the sea-level stillstand at around 8–7.5 ka. Another rapid sea-level rise at 7.5–7 ka allowed thick mangrove peat to be widely deposited in the Cambodian lowland, and the peat accumulation endured until 6.3 ka. Since 6.3 ka, a fluvial system has characterized the delta plain, and the fluvial sediment discharge has contributed to rapid delta progradation. The uppermost part of the sedimentary succession, composed of flood plain to natural-levee sediments, reveals a sudden increase in sediment accumulation over the past 600–1000 years. This increase might reflect an increase in the sediment yield due to human activities in the upper to middle reaches of the Mekong, as with other Asian rivers. 相似文献

Based on petrographical data, three types of greisen have been characterized at the western border of Água Boa pluton: siderophyllite–topaz–quartz greisen (greisen 1), fluorite–phengite–quartz greisen (greisen 2) and quartz–chlorite–phengite greisen (greisen 3). Episyenites were also identified.Two fluids of independent origin interacted with the same protolith – a hornblende-biotite alkali feldspar granite – and produced both the greisens and potassic episyenite: (1) an acid, low-salinity (4–12 wt.% NaCl eq.), F-rich, relatively hot (400–350 °C) reduced aqueous-carbonic fluid (CH4–H2O–NaCl–FeCl2 ± KCl), which by immiscibility gave rise to fluid IA (aqueous) and IC (carbonic); and (2) a lower salinity (2–4 wt.% NaCl eq.) and temperature (200–150 °C) aqueous fluid (H2O–NaCl), which was responsible for all dilution processes. Fluid 1 seems to have had a magmatic-hydrothermal origin, while fluid 2 is probably surface-derived (meteoric water?). An alkaline, F-poorer and diluted equivalent of fluid IA was interpreted to have caused the episyenitization of the granite host rock as well as the formation of phengite-rich greisen 3. The continuos interaction of this fluid with the potassic episyenite produced a moderate- to high-salinity (20–24 wt.% NaCl eq.), low-temperature (200–100 °C) fluid (H2O–NaCl–CaCl2 ± KCl), leading to the formation of chlorite-rich zone of greisen 3 and late silicification of potassic episyenite.In the greisen 1, decreasing F-activity and increasing oxygen fugacity, as the system cooled down, favored the formation of a topaz-rich inner zone, which grades into a siderophyllite-rich zone outwardly. Greisen 2 was formed under more oxidizing conditions by fluids poorer in F than those trapped in the siderophyllite-rich zone.The oxidation of aqueous-carbonic fluid took place at three distinct stages: (i) below the FMQ buffer; (ii) between the FMQ and NNO buffers; and (iii) above the NNO buffer.The dissolution cavities generated during the episyenitization process increased the permeability of the altered rocks, resulting in an increase of the fluid/rock ratios at the potassic episyenite and greisen 3 sites.All these fluids were trapped under pressure conditions of <1.0 kbar, representing shallow crustal levels and are consistent with those that have been estimated for the Pitinga tin–granites.The oxygen fugacity, F-activity gradients and salinity variations that occurred during the cooling of the hydrothermal system, in addition to differences in permeability, were important factors in the formation of distinct greisens.
